Domestic violence

Domestic abuse or intimate partner abuse, can include physical, psychological, and financial abuse perpetrated by a spousal/domestic/intimate partner against the people they should care for. domestic abuse often begins with incidents such as screaming, slapping, or pushing that may seem innocuous or a one-time occurrence, but progressively develop into continuous, more threatening abuse.  even when domestic abuse becomes more habitual, abusers will continue to deny their responsibility, opting instead to blame the victim’s behavior. they also may blame their own actions on outside influences, such as alcohol or stress. if abusers do apologize for their behavior, it is often because they are using the apology as a tool of abuse. they hope that their apologies will convince victims to stay in the relationship so that they can continue to abuse them. remember, apologies never justify violence or the abuser. it may seem extremely hard to leave an abuser in fact, this is what the abuser wants one to believe but remember that you are not alone. onereststar.org or onereststar foundation provides a variety of services, and if you are feeling in immediate danger, contact emergency services as soon as possible. we plan to expand our services, but we can’t do this without your support. please consider donating to onereststar.org or onereststar foundation to help us provide critical services to abuse survivors.  mission statement : supporting the community for better social living with aiding educational learning for children to gain skills and experience. vision: to utilize all resources amongst everyone in the community for the betterment of life and equality.  make a donation towards our cause: our activities largely depend on donations and funding from well wishers. please, consider giving a donation gift, we will highly appreciate your support.

Chronic poverty among the elderly in uganda

The elderly are usually deemed to be those aged 60 and above and poverty studies have singled them out as one of the groups experiencing deprivation because of their stage in the lifecycle (World Bank, 2000). Poverty is usually viewed as lack of income - expenditure or consumption; lack of capabilities and freedoms – both intrinsic and instrumental (e.g. income, education, health, human rights, civil rights, etc.) that permit people to achieve what they want to do and want they want to experience; and a form of absolute or relative deprivation (Hulme, et al; 2001).
